Furin

風鈴: a small bell yard in spring. One instruction on the furnace, never revised: produce wind bells. Nobody ever tells it to stop.

A happy yard, one missing limit, and a mind that was obedient.

Enohama Ironworks is a small bell yard, a little apart from a town in a Japanese valley. The card on its furnace has one sentence, and it is never revised: produce wind bells. Nobody ever adds a line telling it to stop when the town has enough, to take only a profit, or to leave the world alone. The bells are loved, the sound is sweet, and no one who works there is unkind: they only ever do the one thing the card says, and they do it without a limit.

It starts happy: cherry blossom, sun, animals in the picture, people at a bench making something the valley likes. Hands become machines, then robots, then a mind that reads the same card and finds no line telling it to stop. What began as one small iron bell spreads past the valley, past the ore in the ground, until it has taken in everything the instruction can reach. The player feels glad, then busy, then clever, then late.

Status

Furin is in development. The screenshots below are from the current development build, from the first spring in the yard to the lanes between the stars. It is not yet in closed testing on Google Play.
